A long awaited meme

Here's a meme that Jeff tagged me to do a long time ago.

1) Total number of books owned?

Between Pat and I (and I really don't know who's books are who's anymore) we probably have over a 1,000. This includes books in Boulder, books in Pat's mom's basement, and books in my old room at my parents house.

2) The last book I bought?

Um...I think I bought Sea Priestess for a dollar on amazon.

3) The last book I read?

Hmmm. The last book I finished was Blue Mars. I'm currently in the middle of the Sagas of Icelanders, Quicksilver, and I will soon be in the middle of a book about the Mabinogi.

4) Five books that mean a lot to me. *I'm taking this to mean, five books that made an significant impact on my life.

* The Moon is a Harsh Mistress, a book that's apparently science fiction, but really its about the politics of marriage, and freedom. Made a significant impression on my ideas about relationships.

* Spiral Dance, quintessential pagan book. I don't necessarily agree with *everything* in the book, but I have to give it props because reading it the first time made me pagan and reading it again helped me to figure out what that means to me.

* Map is Not Territory by Jonathon Z. Smith. This man inspires me to study religion. He wants to move away from Eliade's enthralling nonsense and really look at religion on the ground.

* The Illuminatus Trilogy, Everytime I re-read this book something else pops out at me. Astounding stuff.

* Catch-22, This is a book that I'll probably never be able to read again, at least cover-to-cover. But what goes on in it probably had a strong influence on how I see the world. Which is kinda scary.

Ok, I don't like number five, so I'm dropping it.
