I think the Rutgers parking permit system is funny. It's funny that they want me to drive my car across the river to busch, park in a lot there, and then get on a bus for an hour-long ride to college ave. This is made even funnier by the fact that I live five minutes away from college ave.

My only other option is to spend $100 on a permit which is only good on campus after 4pm. Since I have two classes before that time and only one after, this isn't terribly helpful.

When I was at Rutgers I had a genuine parking problem. I had to see a Parking Councilor. Not Kidding. I had meet with some one atleast once a semester to discuss my parking problem. Nothing deterred me. I parked illegally. Got tickets, got towed.
A few things I learned...
Sometimes AAA will reimberse you for the towing.
If you wait long enough and dont need your transcripts or library prililages the parking fines eventually go away.
Staff parking permits could once be purchased on the black market.
Forging a New BRunswick boro parking hangtag (visitor tag) will get you in a lot of trouble.

My advice is buy the after 4 tag, then park illegally and hope for the best... fight your tickets... you will always get a discount.

My husband ignored his Rutgers parking tickets a few years ago and they caught up with him. Apparently if they can't find you, they have an "in" with the DMV now, which will count them against your driver's license. So... I wouldn't recommend ignoring tickets.

yes this is VERY true. I know first hand. Having to fix revoked licenses is not fun, let me tell you.
