I'm waiting for Pat to call me, so that I can go grab him from work. While I wait some thoughts on that Bat movie. SPOILERS AHEAD!
These are just general thoughts, not a systematic critique of the movie. Overall, I enjoyed it. I think I like the first two Batmans better than this one, but this one was *much* better than all the other ones. I didn't really like this version of gotham -- it was very realistic and somehow that bothered me. I always think of gotham as the comic book fantasy land that Tim Burton created -- very dark, very twisted.
I would have liked more Scarecrow (he's one of my fav villains), but I loved Liam Neeson. Is this the first time he's played a villain?
Katie Holmes = Suck
Christian Bale made a pretty interesting Batman (plus I love him to death). I didn't like his Batman voice, it was just really weird sounding. I liked him as Bruce.
Alfred and Fox steal the movie. Awesomeness. Also Gordon is a role I would have never picked for Gary Oldman -- but it was pretty cool as well.
I have two major problems with the "water vapor machine thingey." (one) Aren't humans 70% water? If there was a machine that could vaporize water sources, wouldn't it just cause all the humans in the area to explode? (two) So they've been pumping this stuff into the water supply for months right? In that time, has there been no water vapor produced in gotham city? No steam from making tea or coffee or soup?
I really like the idea of Batman as ninja. The whole Tibetan ninja monestery was cool.
Ummmm....what else?
The joker reference at the end makes me wonder -- are they going to remake the original Batman with these new characters?
