So I saw V For Vendetta. Yeah. I was expecting it to be bad, so I'm not as upset as I could have been.

Spoilerish stuff ahead -- proceed at your own risk.

I think, mostly I'm upset because they changed the plot in significant ways for no reason I could see. And they commited the worst sin possible for a movie -- they turned it into a love story.

Its really a shame because parts of it had real potential and were even likeable. Its just all the stuff they changed that was really bad.

And Natalie Portman can't do an English accent to save her life.

I'm slightly mad at all the critics' reviews that I read, because they seem to have watched a different movie than me. A lot of them said that most of the movie was horrible, but the action scenes were good. I thought the action scenes were terrible, badly cut and badly choreographed. They also said that one redeeming thing about the movie was that they were willing to keep Hugo Weaving in the mask the entire time. I guess they missed that big scene in the middle where he's sans mask and instead wearing a really lame false beard.

Its so sad. It didn't have to be that bad. Some of the changes were just silly -- like the love story and the ending. And, I'm sorry to say this, but it just wasn't up to snuff, totalitarian-wise. Like the scene where the high party command is talking about what will happen if V actually blows up parliment, and what does the grand leader say in response? Not, I'll have your heads on my desk tomorrow, but, I'll have your resignation on my desk tomorrow. Resignation? What the hell does that mean? You're the evil, nazi-esque leader and you want a resignation for the end of your empire? Yeah, ok.

I liked the scenes in the prison, it was pretty good and I'm not saying anything more about it. I liked the beginning scenes where they make V look very crazy -- they were funny.

I didn't like the ending. I didn't like the misquote of Emma Goldman. I didn't like how the politics and plot were over-explained and spoonfed to the audience.

Ok. I think I've gotten it all out now.

You should all read the comic now. Yes, its sort of melodramatic and overdone. But really, there are parts in there that are perfect.
