data rich

My life used to be data rich -- I had access to amazing amounts of info. But even more than that, I had access to creative tools: a camera, web design tools, a portable computer. Data and information used to flow through my fingers, in the forms of music, photos, knowledge.

And now I'm down to near zero.

I feel as though I've had a limb amputated. Some skills that I once had ready access to have dissolved away.

Oh and I cut and dyed my hair again. Not as pleased with the hair cut as I was last time, but its not bad.

Rocky tonight. Wish me luck.

In the wake of our recent loss, I've rethought my habits. Used to be, I had intimate access to a laptop -- by this I mean that I could set-up every tiny little preference to fit my life and lifestyle. I had webpages where I wanted them, blog feeds in my feedreader, AIM setup -- all sorts of things tuned to me on a single machine. All of it present just in that machine, with just that machines capabilities.

Now I'm thinking mobile.

I'm thinking, I'll never know where I'll be computing or when. I want to have access to my second brain -- once my laptop and now the internet. I'm going to keep important docs in google docs, important pics on flickr. Keep track of my life with google calendar. Read blogs through bloglines (thanks to tessa for the notion).

Everything is now in motion. Time to evolve.
