this is insane.

Two girls decide to stay home one night and bake cookies for their neighbors. They drop them off at nine people's houses. One of those nine included a woman who was so alarmed by their delivery, she had a panic attack and checked herself into a hospital. She later sued the girls and won, for a total of $900.

If that isn't crazy enough, we have the judges statement:

"The judge said he didn't think the girls acted maliciously, but it was pretty late at night for them to be out. He didn't award any punitive damages."

(Apparently it's illegal to be out after 10:30 at night.)

And then we have the fact that they tried to apologize and pay her medical bills before she took them to court, but:

"The families had offered to pay Young's medical bills if she would agree to indemnify the families against future claims. Young wouldn't sign the agreement. She said the families' apologies rang false and weren't delivered in person, so she brought the matter to court."

The hell is wrong with this country?
