Out on the main lawn of campus, some group (I don't think they identify themselves) has placed 34,000 white flags. Next to the flags are signs with various statistics linking the flags to the deathtoll of Iraqi civilians (different ratios of people-to-flag depending on the news org you check).

I was amazed both by the political statement that they were making and the visual affect they achieved. That many white flags in one place is really startling.
